Aristocratic mansion house in 18th century and beginning of 20th century
Abstract
First available information about noble mansions in Moldova, can be found starting with XIVth century. Based on this information, historian Al. Gonta concludes that in early Middle Ages, mansions, named in that times „domâ€, were complex institutions materializing military, administrative, juridical and economic purposes, organized in a similar manner with the models from Western Europe and Transilvania.
The function complexity of the noble mansion persisted in time, and was confirmed by the configuration of architectural and urban developments that have been preserved until now.
